Reformation Sunday Encouragement

I read this on Edie's blog yesterday and was just so encouraged by her words.  If you don't know about Edie, she is a blogger who has great style and great faith in God.  She and her family lost their home to a fire last Christmas.  I don't check in on her blog that often, but was so glad I did last night.  Her words just reminded me of what an awesome God we serve and despite the circumstances in our lives, we can truly praise Him!  I hope these words encourage you as they did me...

"So, whether your house burns down or your spouse leaves or your children rebel or you have cancer—there is one thing you can count on...

For the sake of Christ, God has loved you with an everlasting love.  He is your Father and He knows your sorrow and counts your tears.

He chose you before the foundation of the world, to live this life, with these people, in this very specific circumstance.

Your hurt is not lost on Him.

He cares for you so much that He suffered every conceivable temptation to rescue you from your shackles.

He will use every heartache in your life to bring you joy in Him.

He will make every piece of the puzzle make sense.

He is not waiting for you to obey or be strong or be faithful.

He has obeyed and been strong and faithful in your place.

And He offers this all to you freely, for the sake of Christ, because that is the reason why He came.

He is the Rock on which your life is built and you need not worry when you see the walls all fall down around you.

In Christ, they will be built again, with the true and sure Cornerstone of His body and blood.

He will make life from death.

Hope from ruin.

Beauty from ashes."

Reformation Day commemorates Dr. Martin Luther's posting of his Ninety-Five Theses on the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany on October 31, 1517. This act triggered the movement in world history known as the Reformation.   As Brennan Manning states in his book, Ragamuffin Gospel, "Today we remember that Christianity at the core is not primarily a moral code but a grace filled journey; it is not essentially a philosophy of love, but a love affair; it is not keeping rules with clenched fists but receiving a gift with open hands."

Friday Randoms

Here are my phone pics for the week...

We had a beautiful Sunday morning last weekend!
I have some cute and silly kiddos:)

I love my pumpkins and mums

Nothing better than a Saturday night in Bryant Denny Stadium cheering on the Crimson Tide! That was my first (and probably last) game of the season.  It was fun!  We are gearing up for the GAME OF THE CENTURY next weekend when we take on #1 LSU.  ROLL TIDE!

Our "BOO" bags ready to be taken and dropped off on some neighbors front door/porches.
Abigail and Samuel having a sweet moment:)

Samuel and his pumpkin Obi-Wan Kinobi at the 2nd grade pumpkin parade!  All the second graders did a book report and then decorated a pumpkin to look like their favorite character from the book.  Samuel of course chose a Star Wars book.  Everyone was so creative and this was such a fun little project!!!

I had 3 hours at the doctor's office this morning because I had to do the 3 hour glucose test (since I failed the first one).  I brought this book along...figured I probably should read it since I will have 3 girls!!!  Oh, and thankfully I passed the 3 hour test!!!

She Has A Name!!!!!

Well, folks after much discussing and thinking and pondering, we have finally come up with a name for our babiest girl.  We told our parents this past weekend and have decided it's time to announce it here for all the web to see:).  With all of our kids, we have given them a biblical name for their first name and a family name for their middle name (Samuel Gibbs, Elizabeth Kate, Abigail Marie).  This child will be no different!  I made the printable below and it's already hanging in her soon to be room...

We will plan on calling her Anna Mitchell and love her to pieces I'm sure! This also means she has the same initials as big sister Abigail so I can reuse all her monogrammed stuff! Score!

9 Years Old!

Happy Happy Birthday to our wild and crazy big boy Samuel.  I can't believe he is 9 years old!  We are so thankful that even though we weren't around for his first 3 birthdays, that we have been able to celebrate that last 6!  What a privilege it is to be Samuel's parents.

We love our chosen boy and couldn't imagine our family without him!

Campfire Chaos

We celebrated Samuel's upcoming birthday with a Campfire party.  I, of course, loved coming up with and planning on the little details and got most of them from Pinterest (where else)!  I borrowed a lot of the stuff and a lot of the decorations I already had so it was a pretty easy party as far as set up and preparation.  It also wasn't too expensive:).  However, with 10 boys running around like hoodlums, it was pretty much the most chaotic party we've had.  I'm basically giving up doing anymore parties like this for Samuel.  I think next year, he can invite a few close friends to go watch a movie or something with him.  Some of it might have to do with being pregnant, but I was pretty tired after throwing this party and so were all the grandparents in attendance.  I'm so glad my parents and Jeff's parents were able to come and celebrate with us.  They also helped set everything up so that was huge!  And of course, we were so excited that Aunt Jenny, Uncle Buddy, and Cousin Davis came too.  Things were so crazy, that I didn't get many pictures of the family in attendance so I needed to give a shout out:).  The boys ate hotdogs, roasted marshmallows, played with the firepit, sang a very loud rendition of "Happy Birthday", played lots of tackle football, went on a nature/bug hunt, listened to a scary story from Jeff, and made their own trail mix to take home.  I think they all really had a blast so I would consider this 9th birthday party a success!   Enjoy the pics...

Pinterest Inspired...

So, as I've said before I'm a tad bit obsessed with Pinterest! My friend recently did a post on what things she has tried on Pinterest and so I thought I would do the same.  Pinterest has given me so much motivation to try new things in the kitchen as well as lots of party and crafty ideas.  I have several things I'm working on for Samuel and Abigail's birthday as well as the nursery that I'll share when I'm done with them.

For now, here are some of the recipes I have tried from Pinterest and loved (the links to recipes are below pictures)....

{Slow Cooker Jambalaya}

{Baked Chicken Penne}

{Crock Pot Creamy Chicken Taco Soup}
1 can of rotel, can of corn, can of black beans (drained & rinsed), 2 frozen chicken breasts, 8 oz cream cheese, 1 packet dry ranch dressing, 1 tablespoon cumin, 1 teaspoon onion powder, 1 teaspoon chili powder. Put all ingredients in crock pot and cook 6-8 hours. Shred chicken, and enjoy!

{Crock Pot Chicken and Dumplings}

As you can see, my favorite recipes have a theme!  They are almost all crock pot recipes.  I'm all about cooking something easy and being able to throw it together in the morning and let it cook all day so I don't have to worry about preparing anything in the afternoon which is when we are usually busy doing homework.

And of course I showed you my burlap wreath that was inspired by Pinterest.

my version

I also liked another little wreath on pinterest so since I had all the supplies on hand, I decided to go ahead and make my own version that is now hanging outside the doorway of the garage...

my version is not as cute, but it was a fun little project anyway

Awhile ago, I had seen a cute pumpkin shirt on Pinterest and decided to make one for the girls.

you might remember seeing my version in this pic from the pumpkin patch

 And here are some of things I am going to do soon I hope....

I already have supplies to do a similar version of this for the nursery

I'm also going to attempt to make my first pillow cover for the nursery!

If you haven't gotten on Pinterest....what are you waiting for?  It's so much fun!

Have you done any Pinterest projects or cooking lately?  If so, you should share!

Cutest Wedding EVER

Jeff officiated a wedding this past weekend in Huntsville for some former students who used to be in our ministry.  Jordan and Audrey are the cutest couple and very unique so I just knew that the wedding would be so much fun!  I was not disappointed and am completely obsessed with everything they did for their wedding weekend.  One of the best parts was that we got to go by ourselves...thanks to Jeff's parents for watching the kiddos.  It really was like a mini vacation.  The rehearsal dinner was at an old historic home in Huntsville (the bride's grandparents home) and it was truly amazing.   We got to stay in a nice hotel and enjoy a yummy (free) continental breakfast.  The wedding wasn't until early evening on Saturday, so we got to relax and just enjoy the day.  I made Jeff help me find a Hobby Lobby (because I have been in seriously missing the one that got destroyed in the Tornado).  He graciously went with me and walked around the store for over an hour without a complaint.  I have a sweet husband:).

The wedding was amazing.  It was a vintage type wedding and like I said, I am completely obsessed and want some sort of excuse to recreate some of the things Audrey did.  She has such great taste and great style and it was the perfect wedding for she and Jordan!  I am so thankful we  got to be a part of it.  Jeff did an amazing job officiating and it was a very worshipful service.  The wedding was held at the bride's family farm in the hills of Brownsboro, Al.  It was a beautiful setting and a beautiful day.  I took a lot of pictures on my phone and was really wishing I had my nice camera.  Anyway, I hope you enjoy the pics and get a glimpse of what an amazingly perfect vintage wedding celebration it was!

And here is a sweet picture from the ceremony taken by the father of the groom (who is a great photographer)!
