Here It is Folks

The New Me...

11 pounds lighter (with 10 more to go) and brown hair!!!

I really like it and am glad it's not a huge drastic difference. She pretty much matched up the rest of my hair to my roots and then did a few lowlights.

So, what do YOU think????

Ode to My Blonde Hair

So, tomorrow is the BIG day! I hope I actually follow through and let the girl get rid of my blonde. We shall see:).

As I was looking for old pics of my blondeness...I got kind of sad. I have never really known anything but being blonde! And honestly, there is just not much better than getting fresh blonde highlights. BUT, I know this is what I need to do. I am no longer naturally blonde and I just can't keep up with trying to fake it.

So, here is a walk down memory lane as I enjoy my last day (if I don't chicken out and if I don't go back at some point) being (somewhat) blonde...

2004 on a cruise

at Jennifer and Buddy's rehearsal dinner 2005

very pregnant and blonde in 2008
just after we moved into our new home in Athens, Ga 2004

with my sweet friend Lauren in Athens 2005

I'll be sure to post pics tomorrow. It might not be as dramatic as I think since my hair has gotten pretty darn dark already!!!

Photo Shoot Outtakes!

I'll post more of the good ones later...but here are some for laughs:). I like to keep it real for y'all!

Spring Photo Shoot Part 1

We took the kids to the President's Mansion here in town today. It's definitely one of my favorite place to take pictures. However, taking pictures of 3 wild children will make you feel like you've just run a marathon...as Jeff put it. I had a few not so nice moments (read...yelling at my kids) and I feel bad about that...really I do. None of them cooperated that well, although I suppose Samuel did the best for sure. Regardless of me thinking they didn't do well, I still took 287 pictures and have about 58 that I would like to share with you:). YIKES! Don't worry, I won't do that...but I will on facebook:).

I will, however just split up the pics into a few posts because I don't have the energy to post that many tonight. Here are a few of my favs though...

and just for fun....oh the difference a year makes...this was last year about this time on the same bench!

okay, back to today...

That's all for now! I'm sure I'll post more later this week or if you are my friend on facebook, maybe I'll post all 58 of my favorite tomorrow:)

What Do You Do...

...on a rainy, stormy Saturday?????

have a little girly time...

do 6 loads of laundry...

watch movies...

And I just have to share that I'm really excited because I've lost 9 pounds in 3 1/2 weeks!!! I put a ticker back up because my goal is to lose at least 12 more pounds before we go on our vacation (I think I have 7 weeks)! I need some accountability and cheerleaders:)!!!!

This is Going to Be Random

While all my sweet munchkins are at school this morning (cue halleluia chorus), I'm enjoying a few quiet moments at home before I hit the ground running to get all my errands done sans girls. Friday mornings are the only days I have them in school so it's definitely one of my favorite days of the week.

I got my hair cut yesterday (cue another chorus of halleluia's). It's amazing what a fresh new haircut will do for me. I swear I had it in a ponytail for a month straight. It was past time!!! Here I am...

Notice my highlights are awful and grown out. Well, I've been contemplating for the last few months about giving up on being blonde anymore. It's a little sad, but really I just don't have the time or money to keep it up anymore. So next week, I'm going back in to my friend Amy who does my hair and we are going to make me an official brunette. I'm nervous especially as we head into summer, but I think it's for the best. I might have to post some pics of my really blond days next week to pay homage to those days. We are going to have some lowlights so it won't be just a mousy brown which is sadly what my natural color would be these days. Anyway, now I know you will all be waiting on the edge of your seats:) Ha!

Moving on. Have I told you that's it official? Samuel is going to repeat first grade next year. He doesn't really know this yet, but it's going to be so good for him. While he has made some improvements this spring with therapy and some modifications in the classroom, he really needs an extra year to truly get the concepts and catch up and mature. He's going to be old...but at least he's small. My buddy has gone through so much and it just makes my heart ache when he gets frustrated and cries through homework. I hate homework just as much as he does. Seriously, why do they even have so much homework when they've been in school all day?!?! I am really praying that next year doing the same things again will boost his confidence and that he will not have such a hard year. His therapy has really helped him at home. While he is still all boy and definitely has moments of disobedience and bad attitudes, he has been really good lately. He is learning to obey quicker and is such a big help with the girls. He loves them so much and just has the most tender heart. I am so proud of him and my heart is so full and feels so privileged that he is mine.

And just because I think this is a cool pic and he never gets any blog time...meet Pepper.

He's our cat that never gets any attention anymore. The kids love him, but he's not starved enough for attention to let them get too near him. Poor cat. He's so sweet.

Oh, and the vacation I mentioned in the last post. For a week in June, I will be here with my love all by ourselves...

Would you like to know how long it's been since we have been on a real vacation just the two of us that didn't include work or adoption? Since our honeymoon. 9 years ago. We did go on a cruise with my family after my brother's graduation in 2004 and that was pretty awesome, but still it wasn't just us. So, anyway, this trip is totally God's provision for us. We, in no way, could have made this happen on our own. Just know that we have an awesome family and they are helping make this happen, and we also have sky miles that we have been saving up for about 5 years. We are both so excited and so thankful that we get to do this!! Oh, and the destination: Mayan Riviera, Mexico.

Have a great weekend!!!

A Full Weekend!

We had a great weekend. It really was just perfect. The weather was divine and we had lots of fun things going on. We started off going to a birthday party on Friday. There were cupcakes, tons of toys, and even a jump house. We had a ton of fun celebrating little Harwood! Saturday was the A-Day game on campus. Jeff took Samuel and while the girls napped I baked some bread. I'm not lying...it's divine.

I'm pretty darn proud of myself too. I did it all from scratch without a kitchen aid or a bread maker and it turned our A-MAZING! This is the recipe from Darby's blog, but I'm pretty sure it's also the same one that's on the back of the bag of bread flour I bought at publix. I could seriously eat the whole loaf myself in about 24 hours, but since I'm really trying to lay off the carbs for awhile in the interest of losing some serious weight for our dream vacation this summer, (more on that at some point) I only allowed myself a couple of slices in the past few days. Jeff and the kids also LOVE it.

Today held more fun as Samuel's boy scout troop held their annual Pinewood Derby race. He and Jeff built the little car and as it turns out...they did a great job on it because Samuel placed FIRST in his age division!!!! He then placed fifth overall! Jeff's already thinking about next year and how to make the car faster. Ha! Samuel was so excited and proud although during the races (they had several different heats), he was cool as a cucumber. It was kind of funny, I'm not sure he could really pay attention because there was so much other stuff going on.

putting the finishing touches on the car Saturday...

Car number 7 (he also won an award for best classic design)!

And the fun begins!

This pic cracks me up (I can see this being pretty typical of lots of Samuel's frienships...bless his heart, he can be annoying sometimes becuase he never shuts up:))

My handsome little champion!!!

It was a family affair and there were lots of kids running around. The girls did great and I of course snapped a few cute pics as the event was at a beautiful church downtown.

And last, but not least....the kids this morning before church (in what they would have/should have worn Easter morning)...
