While all my sweet munchkins are at school this morning (cue halleluia chorus), I'm enjoying a few quiet moments at home before I hit the ground running to get all my errands done sans girls. Friday mornings are the only days I have them in school so it's definitely one of my favorite days of the week.
I got my hair cut yesterday (cue another chorus of halleluia's). It's amazing what a fresh new haircut will do for me. I swear I had it in a ponytail for a month straight. It was past time!!! Here I am...

Notice my highlights are awful and grown out. Well, I've been contemplating for the last few months about giving up on being blonde anymore. It's a little sad, but really I just don't have the time or money to keep it up anymore. So next week, I'm going back in to my friend Amy who does my hair and we are going to make me an official brunette. I'm nervous especially as we head into summer, but I think it's for the best. I might have to post some pics of my really blond days next week to pay homage to those days. We are going to have some lowlights so it won't be just a mousy brown which is sadly what my natural color would be these days. Anyway, now I know you will all be waiting on the edge of your seats:) Ha!
Moving on. Have I told you that's it official? Samuel is going to repeat first grade next year. He doesn't really know this yet, but it's going to be so good for him. While he has made some improvements this spring with therapy and some modifications in the classroom, he really needs an extra year to truly get the concepts and catch up and mature. He's going to be old...but at least he's small. My buddy has gone through so much and it just makes my heart ache when he gets frustrated and cries through homework. I hate homework just as much as he does. Seriously, why do they even have so much homework when they've been in school all day?!?! I am really praying that next year doing the same things again will boost his confidence and that he will not have such a hard year. His therapy has really helped him at home. While he is still all boy and definitely has moments of disobedience and bad attitudes, he has been really good lately. He is learning to obey quicker and is such a big help with the girls. He loves them so much and just has the most tender heart. I am so proud of him and my heart is so full and feels so privileged that he is mine.

And just because I think this is a cool pic and he never gets any blog time...meet Pepper.

He's our cat that never gets any attention anymore. The kids love him, but he's not starved enough for attention to let them get too near him. Poor cat. He's so sweet.
Oh, and the vacation I mentioned in the last post. For a week in June, I will be here with my love all by ourselves...

Would you like to know how long it's been since we have been on a real vacation just the two of us that didn't include work or adoption? Since our honeymoon. 9 years ago. We did go on a cruise with my family after my brother's graduation in 2004 and that was pretty awesome, but still it wasn't just us. So, anyway, this trip is totally God's provision for us. We, in no way, could have made this happen on our own. Just know that we have an awesome family and they are helping make this happen, and we also have sky miles that we have been saving up for about 5 years. We are both so excited and so thankful that we get to do this!! Oh, and the destination: Mayan Riviera, Mexico.
Have a great weekend!!!
