I Heart Faces - "Tooshies"

This week's theme is "Tooshies!"

As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to go find this photo I took of Abigail this past summer. I love her squeezable baby legs with all those rolls and I love her fancy monogrammed pants!!!

A Great Thanksgiving!

We wrapped up last week with a great Thanksgiving celebration! I think my mom spent the entire week we were there in the kitchen. Thanks, mom, for some great meals especially our Thanksgiving turkey. It was delicious!!!! My brother, Ryan, and his wife, Erin drove down from Durham, NC to celebrate. It was so fun to see them and the kids absolutely adore their aunt and uncle. They need to get some kind of award because each of them put Ellie Kate to bed one night. It was a nice break for us! Ha!!!

Abigail loved Ryan

Erin is an awesome cook!!! She made lots of yummy desserts for us and some artichoke dip as well as really good cornbread. The kids loved being right there with her as she cooked...

Happy Thanksgiving!!!! Dancing and twirling around as usual...

Daddy and his girls

Miss Abigail has started walking over the break. She still isn't 100% of the time but more and more she is trying to walk.

an attempt at a family shot (it really is impossible to get all 5 of us looking and smiling at the same time)

mmmmmmmm....

Jeff's parents came up and had Thanksgiving dinner with us which was so fun!

my parents with Samuel

The next day we went down to Jeff's grandparents who live in Atlanta. A lot of his family was there (sister, BIL, aunts and uncles, and cousins). It was a great time of more yummy food and fellowship!!!!

Rachel, Keli (cousin), Jennifer (sister) and Donna (Jeff's mom) enjoying some spiced tea that Jennifer made

Ellie Kate was lovin on some Beckham (Ryan and Keli's 2 year old little boy)

The youngest cousins...(I can't believe we got such a great pic of them all looking and smiling)
Abigail thought she was big stuff being able to sit up on the hearth:)

So, then I tried to get a good one of my 3
so cute if I do say so myself!!!

It only took about 10 of these shots to get the one good one! Ha, Ha!!!

Abigail and Big Papa

Samuel and Grandaddy (I'm so sad I didn't get a picture of Nonnie)

It was SUCH a good holiday and wonderful time of family and even relaxing. Now we are back into the grind and the next month is going to be busy, busy, busy!!! I'm so excited about the Christmas season and am trying to finish decorating today before our first party tomorrow night!

EDITED TO ADD
I can't believe I forgot this, but the only bad thing about Thanksgiving was that Jeff sliced open the top of his "tall man" finger when we were at his grandparents. He was cutting the ham and turkey and just slipped up. He had to go to a med plus and get 6 stitches. Yuck!!!!!!

So Thankful!

This week has been so good! Jeff had a conference over last weekend and into Monday so I came on to Atlanta to see my parents. The kids have been sleeping late and I got some sewing done. We made oreo turkeys. Abigail is taking more and more steps and getting more confident with her walking so maybe she will do it full time soon! Samuel helped my dad paint their fence one day. Last night, I got to go out on a hot date with Jeff to Macaroni Grill and then to see New Moon! Woohoo!!! Today, Jeff came up with a fun game of taking the golf cart through a big pile of leaves. Samuel and EK thought that was the best. We look forward to seeing Jeff's family towards the end of the week.

I have barely had time to stop and just reflect on just how much I have to be thankful for...but as I edited and put the following pictures together I was just overwhelmed with how much I really do have to be thankful for. God has blessed us tremendously with wonderful families, healthy (for the most part) children, great friends, and so much more. Weeks like this are so good for my soul!!! Of course, I am mostly thankful for a Savior and for my relationship with Christ. There have been times in my life where I had to really search what I had to be thankful for as I walked through some dark times. The funny thing is that I truly am thankful for those times as it's during those "dark nights of the soul" that God draws me so close to Himself and I experience Him the most. However, I am also thankful for the season we are in now where life is pretty good and there isn't any huge life altering trial we are walking through. I hope and pray that whatever season God has you in, that you can praise Him and be thankful!

Enjoy the fun pictures from the past few days...

The girls each got 2 new pair of pants, and 4 shirts and 2 dresses (I've been working on this stuff off and on for 3 weeks). I love to see them matching in stuff I made!!! None of it's perfect, but that's the great thing about kids clothes...they move too fast to notice:) Ha!

Ellie Kate saying "Ta-Da!" in her new pants (I am going to applique that black shirt soon)

Ready to plow through the pile of leaves...

LOVE this pic!!!!!

I decided to get on for a try

Nana and Woody (my parents)

I am so excited to spend the next few days celebrating with family how much we truly do have to be thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!!!

My Girl

I captured these pictures awhile back and kept meaning to post them, but the busyness of the season got in the way.

Ellie Kate is so fun right now. She is really beginning to role play a lot as she plays with her toys, dolls, etc. She loves to sing and read as well. She is a great "mama"to her animals and dolls...

she lines them up for dinner

and reads this book to Mama Bear (this is what EK has named the bear)

After 6 months of "potty training" Ellie Kate is finally fully trained. Yes, it really took that long. I told you, she is one strong willed little girl and all our summer travels really set her back. She now goes all by herself and does the whole shebang (potty, wipe, wash hands) all by herself.

Her bedtime routine is finally better too. I think that was about 8 months of screaming and crying every. single. night. I'm really not exaggerating. But now, she has finally given up fighting it. We do have to have a very specific routine and have several lights on (because of "monsters") but for the most part, she goes down well and then sings loudly to her animals and dolls before falling asleep.

I wish I could remember some of the cute stuff she says, but I don't write it down soon enough and then I totally forget. I need to get better about that. I just love her to pieces even though there are many battles each day to break down that will and lead/train her to obedience and a happy heart. Ellie Kate is definitely a challenge but I am so thankful for my crazy girl!

Whew!!!!

Par for the course...it's been a crazy few days at our house. I'm beginning to think that's just the norm for us now as a family of 5. It's okay though...I wouldn't trade it for anything!

I have been a slacker blogger lately. Samuel's swine flu got better after just a few days, but then it turned into pneumonia early Sunday morning. He was one miserable little boy. We had to visit a local pediatrician who was seeing patients thank goodness on Sunday and then we had to go to the ER to get xrays and bloodwork. Then we had to go back to the ped for Samuel to get 2 shots of antibiotics once the pneumonia was confirmed. He stayed home from school (for the 6th and 7th day out of 8) Monday and Tuesday. Thankfully, he is finally better and we are hoping that is over and done with!

As a side note...because of the stupid pig flu, pneumonia, I haven't even gotten an appropriate picture of my kids/family for our Christmas card! Sigh. I'm hoping too this weekend!

Oh, how I love these 3 munchkins...

yes, Abigail's hair is C.R.A.Z.Y! It sticks straight up in the back!

laying on the floor together...this is pretty much how my attempts at getting a good pic of all 3 of them go...it's about impossible
