I Heart Faces - Just For Fun!

I love this picture of Ellie Kate, my 2 year old,  from when we were at the beach last month.  As you can see, it's on my header too!

Rocky Mountain Getaway

Ft. Collins, Colorado (where we are) lies at the foothills of the rocky mountains.  Over this past weekend, we went over to the Rocky Mountain National Park.  It is always one of our favorite things to do when we are out here every other summer.

My parents took Samuel over there on Thursday and they spent 2 days with just him hiking, fishing, and exploring.  Needless to say, he LOVED it!!!

So, then we met them on Saturday morning to do some more hiking and exploring.  The bad news is that I forgot to charge my camera battery so my SLR died after about 4 pics.  SO SAD!!! Thankfully I did have my point and shoot, but it's just not the same.   Next time we go somewhere, I will hopefully be better prepared!

After a late lunch, my parents left with the kids and we got to drive to the top of the National Park where the elevation is near 14,000 feet.  I was really feeling the altitude at this point (it actually feels a lot like those early weeks of pregnancy).   Then, Jeff and I ended up staying in a little mountain cabin on the river Saturday night.  It was our first mini-vacay in a LONG time. We enjoyed eating out, reading, sleeping late on Sunday, and just having some much needed down time.  Thanks to my mom and dad for keeping the kids so we could do that!

There is still a good bit of snow at the top.  We were walking around in it and Jeff's foot fell into the drift. It's amazing how solid and deep it still is at the end of June!

My parents left yesterday, but the older kid started going to the Kids Camp this week! It's been busy, but we are having a blast and definitely not missing the hot and humid southern weather that's been going on!

Improvising

Show Us Where You Live Friday post is below this one if you are visiting for that!

Improvise:
to make, provide, or arrange from whatever materials are available

This is what we have to do a lot of the time with small kids...but that's especially so when we have to come out to Colorado every other summer for 6 weeks of ministry training!

no bathtubs in our Colorado apartment...so we have been using one of our plastic packing boxes for baths for the girls

no king size bed!?
so we took a double from EK's room that she is not using and brought it into ours to make for an even better than king size bed!

And just for fun...here is the bathroom we have with my silly boy showing off for the camera

I couldn't resist this photo either:)
How cute is this little bathing beauty in her monogrammed swimsuit?

For those who have asked or wondered...YES I did take pictures ahead of time before we left for Colorado so I could participate in Show Us Where You Live Friday and the other fun carnivals coming up through Kelly's Korner blog.  I am THAT person and I am okay with it.  I know I'm a dork but I love blogging so I planned ahead:)

Show Us Where You Live Friday - Master Bedrooms

MASTER BEDROOM

I love our bedroom! It has some of my favorite furniture in the house and it's some that we actually bought a few months after we got married.  Most of the stuff in our house has been handed down to us which I am incredibly grateful for...especially since it's all so nice.  I love antiques so I definitely wanted that for our bedroom.  I found 2 pieces at a store in North Alabama that I have truly loved having in our room.  And if I get tired of them, they will be perfect pieces for the girls room one day!

Jeff's parents gave us the beautiful bed a few years ago (and it just happened to match the bedding we already had perfectly!).  The beautiful chest on the right was a gift from Jeff's grandparents and something we will treasure forever

I decided to go for a different point of view on this pic...I think it's cool (I stood up on the chest)

the pic turned out really dark so I had to lighten it up a lot in order to see the detail of the piece but now the quality isn't so great...oh well

Enjoying Beautiful Colorado

This morning while Jeff was in meetings, the rest of us went to Watson Lake just outside of Ft. Collins.  This is our 4 time to spend a summer out here, and I have never even heard of this place.  It was so beautiful!  Not only is there this gorgeous lake, but there are trails and a small river that runs near it.  We enjoyed some fishing and walking by the river.  Ellie Kate spotted a deer in the brush and we also saw 2 snakes (eek).  It was a fun morning!

One of Samuel's favorite things to do is fish with my dad.  He was so excited on our way to the lake he could barely contain himself! It was so cute! I love seeing his enthusiasm for the great outdoors.

Ellie Kate may love the outdoors as much as Samuel.  She had so much fun today!

After our morning excursion we stopped by one of our favorite places to eat....Woody's Pizza.  Since the kids call my dad Woody, we had to get a pic of him in front of the sign! So fun!
